Imagine being a brain. You are stuck inside a bony skull and you are trying to figure out what’s out there in the world.

All you have to go with are streams of electrical impulses from your senses… can you trust them, should you trust them?

That depends!

We don’t have time today to get into how our brains receives and arranges sensory data into a coherent experience of ‘out there’ WITHIN US. But within the contexts of beliefs, and especially those insidious beliefs that hold us back, it useful to know beliefs are made up STORIES.

Our beliefs are our brains best guesses of how the world works. They include conclusions like whether we are capable, intelligent, funny etc., along with thousands and thousands of assertions about the world.

These beliefs define what we THINK is possible and impossible.

Since our map making process is limited and can never truly capture the entirety of the territory, our conclusions about us and what is possible for us, are also going to be WRONG.

This is GREAT news!

Because we can change our maps.

We can update our beliefs and go on to do remarkable things, even in the face of tremendous doubt.

CASE IN POINT:

In 1903 the New York Times predicated a flying machine would be possible in…

… wait for it…

... between 1-10 million years!

Later that very same year, the Wright brothers made mankind’s first flight and changed history.

Five years later, in 1908, a leading authority on flying said it wouldn’t be possible at any point for a flying machine to fly from New York to Paris

Who made that foolish prediction?

One of the Wright brothers!

The human brain, trapped inside the skull, treating our mental maps as the world, will do that.

The point is not to stop when we hear ourselves thinking something is impossible.*

The point is to challenge our beliefs that make us think it is impossible. Especially those limitations we have assumed about ourselves as you’ll learn how to.

In today's video, master trainer Michael Breen invites you to begin to think differently about your own limitations.

As Nelson Mandela said: “Everything is impossible until it is done.”

Many people like to play the ‘Being right game.’

But trying to be right all the time is a fools game.

If you want to be more successful and accomplish more, the game is not to be ‘right’ about seeming limitations. To stack up your reasons a mile high, so you literally create a mental prison for yourself.

Rather the game is to create better maps to navigate with, to create and install better beliefs in ourselves, so we overcome the obstacles and in doing so, unlock more of our very best selves.

When you learn to work with beliefs in this way, you stop hesitating and start acting more on the world, you discover the boundaries that govern things aren’t as firm and hard as you thought.

Just like the Wright brothers did.

So we too can turn the impossible to possible … to done.

That’s not a bad place to start, right?

It’s all made possible by breaking through your limiting beliefs.

Are there easy ways to do that? You bet.

More details to follow soon ;-)

To your success,

Tom
