WICKED SMART
Tom O'Connor
Today I’ve got something special to share.
It’s a video that I think you’ll like if you value wicked smart ways of thinking. In case you’re just catching up…
Previously, in Episode 1 (‘The Sherlock Holmes Test’) I shared how your ability to go beyond what has been overtly expressed when someone speaks to hear what else has to be there – can be a tremendously powerful way to begin to generate insights, at the level of language alone.
Insights that can make it seem like you can read minds.
In Episode 2 (From Data to Intel) we learned how spies and masters of the NLP use very similar structures to pattern and calculate what others will do. How the purpose of thinking is to create action.
If you watched the video in Ep 2, you learned how the Meta Model and Framing Tool aren’t just for asking questions but for building your hypothesis about how a person’s system is functioning and how people create and maintain their ‘reality’.
You discovered how we can detect aspects of a person’s metaprograms and strategies function simply from the utterances they say … which give us tremendous insight into how a person is moving through the world and what kinds of choices and decisions they’ll take (or won’t take.)
Whenever Michael and I coach students on how to do this, it’s not long before someone asks questions like:
The answer is - learn how to chunk what you hear.
Not in any haphazard way, but following a specific system.
Chunking is a tremendously powerful skill to learn.
If you want to learn to:
…so you can generate insights, offer solutions and make suggestions that get acted upon…
Watch today’s video to get a taste of how to chunk what you hear.
Michael shares several gems about the way human beings create their maps and models of the world and how you can add immense value to just about any situation.
That’s what NLP at its heart is all about - adding greater choice.
Creating better possibilities. Michael shows you how to begin to do that right here:
At each level of this system, learning to hear the higher order presuppositions behind a person’s communication, learning to hear what isn’t said, patterning the structures that must be present that surround what someone says…
… opens up a whole other world of information and insight that 99.99% of people never even know exists!
Information and insights that are available to those who train their brain to think and listen differently.
When you get good at this, your ability to add value at work, at home, with friends and colleagues - goes up immensely. You have at your fingertips an incredibly sophisticated set of thinking, problem solving and communication tools that allows your mind to move fluidly like a master… solving problems, creating value and having impact wherever you go.
This is just the beginning...
Talk soon,
Tom
