Wizards of Influence: Unlocking the Mystery of Rapid Changes Through Stories

Everyone knows the story of Troy.

But few know how wizards of influence can quickly change people’s mind (and lives) by telling them ‘a few stories’.

Particularly off the cuff stories that seem to have no connection to the issue being discussed.

Like the story of Troy, masters of influence employ a similar tool to captivate and change people’s minds.

Here’s how…

Have you ever seen a world class communicator change people’s lives with a few stories and wondered:

“How is such rapid change possible when there was no visible hypnosis or techniques, and the whole thing happened inside an ordinary conversational story?”

It’s a bit of a mystery, right?

Let’s unpack one layer to see how this genius method works.

Here’s the first reveal:

Stories alone are NOT what creates the change.

Wizards of influence who create lasting changes and real impact don’t just use storytelling to do what they do.

They combine multiple skills - skills not taught in storytelling or communication workshops.

Here’s how: Imagine a triangle with a single label on each axis.

At the top we have (S) Storytelling followed by (K) Knowledge of Change Processes and finally, we have (A) Advanced Communication Skills.

Think SKA for short.

The storytelling is what you see and hear. The story is what the audience gets sucked into. It’s happened to all of us. It happens all the time.

When we want to influence someone or create a change in everyday contexts, we want to use stories. Stories pull people in and don’t cause a sense of threat.

Which is VERY important because when someone has spent months, years or decades thinking and acting a certain way, they have a VERY strong system in place for keeping things the SAME.

That system is stacked with guards at every level, ready to protect against all attempts to change the system.

If we want to create change that lasts, the worst move is to attack that system head on. That will bring the drawbridge up quickly. The person’s mind will lock you out of the castle. The turrets will be pointed at you.

Don’t do it. (Unless you love failure!)

Instead, bypass the guards. Do like the Greeks did with Tory. Tell them a story. A story the guards won’t expect!

A non-related story.

(Ever seen Richard Bandler or Michael Breen tell one of those?)

Stories are like Trojan horses, they allow us to bypass the critical function. The ‘guards’ that stand alert on watch-towers will let your story pass by, unchallenged.

You’re in!

The question is, now what can you do?

This is where many people, even many highly trained NLPers, mess things up.

It’s not enough to catch and hook a person’s attention with an immersive story. You’ve got to transform the way the person perceives and experiences the world.

So within their stories, wizards of influence deliver covert process instructions.

Generalised suggestions of change, like “you’ll feel better”, embedded within one’s stories aren’t enough.

You got to nest the instructions in a very specific way.

That’s where the 3rd skill comes in.

Use of advanced communication skills and conversational protocols.

The key thing here is that while the listener is engrossed in the story, the wizard is creating experiences, imparting structures, and delivering process instructions throughout the conversation, which the other person's unconscious mind can select and internalise.

That way, the change occurs before the stories end.

And best of all, the person’s conscious mind doesn't even notice how, it just feels the effects…

This is the magic of the S.K.A. system. It allows you to bypass people’s psychological guards and create rapid changes conversationally. It requires no eyes to be closed. No formal procedure to be used. No overt hypnotic techniques.

It looks and sounds like ordinary everyday conversation with some stories thrown in.

You can use it everywhere, with anyone, in everyday situations, to influence powerfully. To have a real impact. See an example of that in action here.

To your success,

Tom
