How to Brain-Wash Friends & Robotise People
When my second child was born my wife had an unexpected visitor.
I was out. A woman in a long coat and dark hair came to the door. She introduced herself as a health care worker and asked to be let in. My wife complied.
Shortly after examining our new baby, she quizzed my wife. Happy with what she heard, she turned to leave, paused and said:
“Remember the responsibility for parenting is yours, the baby belongs to the state.”
Off she went.
My wife was blown away. When I heard this, my jaw dropped. “Excuse me?? Is this 1984?”
I had to slap myself. Yes, that conversation did happen. It felt like a major overstep. It was. But then again, this kind of thinking isn’t that uncommon…
Imagine waking up one day and realising everything you were told was a lie. Your countries history was fabricated and everyone around you was brainwashed.
It sounds like a plot to a movie, right? But it’s the insane reality for many North Koreans, according to Hyeonseo Lee. Lee is a North Korean defector and human rights activist. She wrote about her experience escaping in the “The Girl with Seven Names” where she details the many techniques used by the state to brainwash friends.
Here’s a few:
From a young age North Korean children are told stories of their leader’s extraordinary abilities including one Kim Jong-il, the former leader, had the power to control the weather with his mind!
In schools, North Korean children are taught that their country is the most prosperous and advanced in the world. America is the enemy.
Throughout their day North Koreans are fed constant propaganda stories about how great their country and leader are, creating a shared reality tunnel.
Dissent and independent thought are not permitted. Information from outside sources, controlled by the state. Those in power conduct an active misinformation campaign on the minds of millions very effectively.
These tactics are common by countries and individuals that want to exert mind control over others.
For a long time, those in power have known:
Stories are how you CONTROL people.
A culture is nothing more than the stories it tells itself.
A person’s personal identity is nothing more than the collection of stories they believe about themselves. Who they are. Where they have come from, who their tribe is…
That’s why learning to work with and modifying people’s stories is one of the most powerful skills you can ever have.
Because when you know how to influence and effect the stories people use to make sense of the world, you literally have the power to influence people in VERY profound ways.
(And protect yourself and your loved ones.)
And when you can do this entirely conversationally, you become a force to be reckoned with.
Stories…
That’s why how to tell stories that influence has been a secret passed down from master to apprentice for decades and been kept private from the public.
But tomorrow, that’s all about to change.
Stay tuned for a special invitation from me in your inbox tomorrow, to something very special.
To your success,
Tom
