There are a few books worth revisiting from time to time, and Viktor Frankl's, 'Man's Search for Meaning' is undoubtedly one of them.
In his book, Frankl, a renowned psychiatrist and Holocaust survivor, recounts his experiences in Nazi concentration camps and reflects on the meaning of life. He argues that although we may not always have control over the circumstances that surround us, we always possess the power to choose one’s attitude in any given set of circumstances.
Yet, only a few of us realize that we have the ability to choose, as we often miss the moment when a choice becomes possible. We find ourselves reacting to circumstances, expecting the world to change when, in reality, it is we who need to change.
That's why the number 1 skill to develop, that will make everything else you do with any NLP techniques far more powerful, is an increased awareness of our behaviour.
When we begin to identify where we have taken on habits, patterns of thought and emotion that restrict us, and we reintroduce choice, we give ourselves true personal power.
The power to change our life and ultimately our destiny.
It all comes down to creating an enriched meaning for our lives. One that wakes us up ... to answer the call to our own adventure. To move beyond our fears.
And if you are looking for something to enrich your mind and your life this weekend, I recommend watching this captivating interview with Victor Frankl.
It was one of his final interviews before his passing, and you can see the beautiful spark of life well alive in him, at 90 years old.
Real growth requires self-reflection. The willingness to look at our lives as they are and imagine a better future - then taking deliberate action to realise it. Day by day.
